Do not say that it is by cultivating myriad practices that one realises the Unsurpassed Fruit of Buddhahood. With the Three Contemplations in a Single-thought, we examine and investigate the Four Stages [of Thought], [and understand them] to all be the Single-thought. [For when] thought and the nature [of dharmas] are in unity, then there are no further distinctions, because [all is] identical to Suchness (Tathatā).	莫謂修萬行。證無上佛果。我一心三觀推檢四運。皆爲一心。心與性合。更無分別。即眞如故。	莫謂修萬行，證無上佛果。我一心三觀，推檢四運，皆爲一心。心與性合，更無分別，即眞如故。
On the nineteenth day (wushen day) of the fourth month ( which began on a gengyin day) of the thirteenth year of Kōnin (renyin year) (822 A.D.) in the Great Nation of Japan:	大日本國弘仁十三季（歳次壬寅）四月朔庚寅十九日戊申(822 A.D.)。	大日本國，弘仁十三季 (歳次壬寅) ，四月朔庚寅，十九日戊申(822 A.D.) 。
I recorded the essentials [of what is] called the Sublime Meaning, which I conferred on Dharma Master Ennin.   Recorded by the Mahāyāna śramaṇa Saichō, who formerly entered the Tang [Empire in search of the Dharma].	録旨言妙義以付授圓仁法師。 前入唐大乘沙門最澄記。	録旨言妙義，以付授圓仁法師。   前入唐大乘沙門最澄記。
